What If...
Almost three and a half years ago, Ken my wonderful husband of
a few short weeks suffered a fatal heart attack. I dedicate this
album to him, my soul mate and continuing inspiration. All the
tracks on this album hold a particular significance to both of
us. This album is for all those people who have ever had their
hearts broken, their dreams shattered and who have ever asked
the question, "What if...”
Heartfelt thanks go to all my family from both sides, (too many
to mention but you all know who you are), for your love and support
over the last three and a half years. Special mention to my cousin
Harry also to Doris, Sandy, Lynn and Ron. To my wonderful friends
Phil, Debbie, Susan. To Staff and Jan, would I be singing again
if it were not for you? Last but by no means least my mate Ian
Thompson at White Wolf Recording Studio, a true friend and a joy

I
discover most of my students whilst adjudicating at competitions
or at auditions and at training schools. Although all are obviously
rough around the edges at first, even the ones who have been
going to so-called singing lessons for years, I do offer singing
and performance tuition to those who have the necessary singing
and performance abilities to be really great, it is unfair and
frankly a waste of everybody's time and money to take on students
for the sake of earning fees from lessons.
It doesn’t take me long to get the best out of those who
have a natural ability anyhow. Here are some recordings of my
students who have really turned out great and certainly of world
class potential. Our recordings are obviously done on a very
tight budget as we are totally self funded and we do not get
any financial help from the music industry whatsoever, I know
we should but they prefer to shelve it all off for tawdry music
TV productions.
We have to use licensed backing tracks for most of the music
which does cause certain problems when pitch shifting to get
suitable keys but just listen to the voices and singing ability'
of these people.
So if their is anyone out their in the real music world who
is looking for some seriously talented individuals, not your
celebrity junky, pop idol or xfactor fame seekers, then please
give me a call, just think what you could do with these fantastic
voices with the best possible benefaction.

says... Amy has many great abilities and is one of the best
I have ever seen with 'song expression', she has everything
it takes and is among the best there is, even at 15yrs.

says... I heard Jane when she was only 12yrs and even now at 14yrs
she has the most powerful and mature voice I have ever heard for
her age, she can sing anything really well. Anyone out there looking

says... There are songwriters and then there is Roly Johnson...
I have many thousands of albums and dearly love so many thousands
of songs and tunes but when I heard Roly's
'Travelling Light' Album, I immediately knew what
song I wanted playing at my funeral, 'SWEET
RAIN', there are few songs that have" turned
my taps on", this one did and at the first time of hearing
it. The whole album is just so beautifully passionate.
There are so many songwriters write lovely music yet put the most
incongruous lyrics to the tunes, most use the soppy love words
or words that have no story nor make any sense whatsoever, mostly
using words that "as long as they rhyme, they'll do".
I sing hundreds of songs and most of them have awful lyrics which
make it very difficult to perform the song with any passion or
feeling. I struggle so hard when I teach stage performance to
my students, telling them that to perform a song well you must
first learn the story well and have that beautiful story in your
mind so it oozes from you when you sing the song to your audience,
when the reality is there is only a handful of songs that have
any true meaning/passion or genuine story in their lyrics.

a Jazz event I was holding in their home-town. They are just lovely

Orchestra a few times last year and may do so again in the near
future. Northern Underground Jazz Orchestra - A new version of
Garlands long standing 9 piece, this 14 piece band features some
of the finest players in the North of England along with top players
from London, with an agenda of playing not just Garlands own celebrated
compositions but new commissions from around the country. The

Hannah Jones
