THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! - THIS IS OUR HISTORY!
DO NOT MISS THIS GIG... DO NOT MISS THIS GIG... DO NOT MISS THIS GIG... DO NOT MISS THIS GIG...
DO NOT MISS THIS GIG...
THIS IS WHERE ONE OF THE GREATEST BLUES ROCK SONGS OF ALL TIME 'All Right Now' was actually written backstage in 1969 !!!!!
at DUNELM HOUSE, Durham
Come along and grab yourself a piece of music history.
Freeway and Simon Kirke look forward to seeing you there!
Mac says... Well I will be blowed for sure, for those of you who know me well, you know I started my music career in classical music and then at the age of 16 moved into the rock business and at that time there was one of the greatest Blues Rock Bands of all time FREE, they wrote the most fabulous blues rock music you could ever wish to hear, most of their songs like 'Alright Now', 'My Brother Jake' and 'Wishing Well' to name a few, and I mean a few, are still so ICONIC today, some 30 years on!
Well it just so happens a wonderful friend of mine by the name of John Buckton, the one and only world famous Paul Kossoff clone "to the point of frightening cloned" has the undoubted best FREE tribute band in the whole world and look at just what his partner (and Band Manager) Elaine Jackson is putting together for this year.
SIMON KIRKE plus special guests FREEWAY TOUR 2008
To celebrate the 40th anniverary of Free's formation -
Simon Kirke and Freeway play a series of exclusive UK dates.
As anyone who attended one of our joint shows last year will tell you, this is an unmissable experience for any fan.
This year, we are incredibly excited about our show at DUNELM HOUSE, Durham - where All Right Now was actually written backstage in 1969. The same venue experienced riots when FREE played there in 1970 - an estimated 2000 people crammed themselves into the venue for the show, and a further 1000 were left outside, disappointed and (understandably, we think) rioting!! WERE YOU THERE? Were you one of the lucky ones who got inside? Or were you causing a public disturbance?! Either way, please send us your story (just reply to this email address) as we'd love to put some of your memories on our website. Feel free (no pun intended) to tell us of any other memories too. Come along to Dunelm and feel the love - and grab yourself a piece of genuine music history.
Here are the full list of dates. We hope to see all of you there. All dates are for November 2008.

Freeway - The Ultimate Free Tribute Band
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For those of you who live in the NorthEast of England...
Here is some vital information on how to get your hands on some tickets for our show with Simon Kirke at Dunelm House.
The show is on Friday 7 November 2008.
Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Simon Kirke and Larry Oakes (ex-Foreigner) will open the show with their acoustic set, featuring some of Simon's new material alongside some Free and Bad Company classics.
Following a short interval, Freeway will play a full electric set (that'll blow the cobwebs off, trust me), and Simon will join the band on the kit to end the night with his favourite Free songs. The show will finish at approximately 10.15pm.
Tickets are £14 each. They are available via email (just let me know how many you need) or by telephoning 07704 154 442. If you want them sent out, this will cost an extra £1 (regardless of how many tickets you buy) and they will be sent via recorded delivery so will require a signature upon receipt. If you don't want them sent out, you will be able to collect them on the door on the night.
Please note that we will not hold any tickets that have not been paid for. Please also note that when we ran our show at the Park last year, I was having to turn very disappointed fans away at the door as we were up to our 600-capacity limit within half-an-hour of the doors opening. We won't have loads of tickets left to buy on the door so please purchase early and make sure you've got yours.
If you have any further queries don't hesitate to get in touch.
We will be starting to post tickets out next Friday (29 August).
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Meet
the Mayhew's
Gavin, Cherry, Leony, Megan & Kahla
Mac
Says... when I met my wonderful wife Louise some 25 years
ago and with her getting to know my artistic interests, she
insisted I meet the Mayhew’s, Gavin & Cherry, the
rest is history, we have been great friends ever since as
well as after many years we have saved up enough money to
be the proud owners of 2 of Gavs masterpieces.
There are few real people on this planet, the Mayhew’s
are in my reckoning as one of the few!
I could say millions of wonderful things about Gav but my
primary comment, being a musician, is that Gav is the finest
dancer I have ever seen, Gav feels music to the point where
every part of his body expresses the tune/song so beautifully
hence his artistry on canvass is exceptionally magnificent.
There are Artists and then there is Gavin Mayhew! Check out
some of his paintings and visit these websites.
WHO IS GAVIN MAYHEW ?
I am a
long suffering artist and have three gorge daughters, a fabbo
wife and my own garrett to starve in. Although my art work
is quite varied I want to show off my weirdy stuff to all
of those art lovers out there. Most Galleries and the art
establishment really piss me off as some of the so called
experts are a set of dick-heads. I want you, the real people
out there to appreciate my quirky werky, so let me know what
you think. As well as images of my favourite works, I hope
to enclose some images from an illustrated eco book that I
wrote years ago. Unfortunately my fears for the environment
have started to come true. My problem is that when I was younger
I had some fantastic ideas for paintings - ideas that I now
see young artists attempting to produce. I was ahead of my
time. Now I'm older-I'm past it. So I've decided to girdle
my loins and give it one last blast to see if I can become
belatedly famous. The book is called Lord Muck and symbolises
the greed of mankind in the form of a Victorian industrialist.
But don't get me wrong - I'm not all gloom and doom as I am
one barmy bugger who loves life, a good laugh, and partying
My ambition is to die while dancing my odd socks off to the
'Funky Chicken', 'Mr. Boombastic' or 'Here Comes de Judge'
by Pigmeat Markham.
